Claire started her career in tax with HMRC, working in various offices such as enforcement and
finance, and seeing first hand HMRC’s methods and resources in an enquiry situation.
Leaving HMRC, she started her qualifications in tax, qualifying as a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians at a traditional accountancy firm on the Sussex coast.
From there she joined BDO’s Gatwick office, commenced her Chartered Institute of Taxation qualifications and concentrated on high net worth individuals and family trusts.
After leaving BDO she came to British Taxpayers, and shortly after joining become a Chartered Tax Adviser. Whilst with us, Claire has extended her knowledge to foreign issues, and started working with non UK residents and non UK domiciled individuals. Retaining an interest in Trusts, Claire completed an Advanced Certificate in International Taxation for the Society of Trust and Estate practitioners in July 2013, which concentrates on non UK individuals, their trusts and other offshore structures.
In August 2013 Claire and her colleague Zoë Harris took over the management and ownership of British Taxpayers, through its parent company, Harris Stewart.
At weekends Claire spends most of her time on the Sussex Coast, taking walks with her English Bulldog Barkley, or enjoying a Pimms when the weather allows!
